My wife and I would like to thank you for the Angie’s Purpose doll given to my mother-in-law. She fell and broke her hip in Watercrest Senior Living on April 1st, 2023. She had a hip replacement the next morning and stayed until April 10th. Her extreme pain and dementia made it impossible for her to comprehend what had happened and where she was. My wife and I took turns staying 24 hours with her at the hospital for the first six days when the wonderful staff told us to go home, they could do it. During that time she was combative and very difficult to manage. We can’t remember which day but someone came to the room and asked my wife if she would like a comfort doll. My wife was a bit nervous how she might react but said yes. The Angie’s Purpose doll made an amazing impact. She spent the first hour and a half talking constantly to the doll, smiled and thought it was a real baby. It relieved her anxiety and she was more of the sweet person she used to be. I can’t begin to thank you enough for the doll. When she left for skilled nursing at Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation she took her baby with her and it was such a help there as well. She died on May 8th after almost six years of memory care. The last four weeks was made so much better for her, my wife and I, and the staff at both the hospital and skilled nursing center. Our church quickly purchased 4 dolls and donated them to Watercrest memory unit in Indian Land. Please continue the program and spread the word of the doll’s potential effect. I realize that not everyone may benefit from or connect with the dolls but when they do it is amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I wanted to reach out to say a heartfelt thank you for the baby dolls with the Angie's Purpose program. My mom was diagnosed with AML 6 months ago and has been on a roller coaster of rebounding /actively dying for 6 weeks now. She benefited so much from your baby doll during her delirium stage of her cancer diagnosis. When mom worked in a hospital as a nurse when I was kid, she would foster babies. So, she always loved babies and your program was so wonderful to assist her. She would love on this baby and hold it and it was just precious. Thank you so much for conducting your program that brought so much comfort to my mom. I truly appreciate the idea behind this program.

Doll Therapy can replace other traditional treatments for patients with dementia. One of the things we try to get away from is restraints. We don’t like restraints. Medications, we have to use, but we try to stay away from medications.

I was able to see my other patients and give morning medications after providing a doll to my one patient who was restless and constantly trying to get out of bed without help. The patient interacted with the doll and it calmed her and she stopped trying to get out of bed.
